Greater variety of products, smaller batch sizes and specialisation of production are the main requirements of progressive machines. In order to fulfil these demands, whilst market prices are static or even shrinking, and personnel costs are rising, automation technology must be used exhaustively. 

It must go beyond the actual production process and enter secondary functions such as setup and material supply tasks. At this point encoTRive fills the gap between fieldbus and drive technology: It is a compact device containing motor, converter, fieldbus communication, position closed-loop controller and an absolute measuring system as well as optional I/Os and optional brake.

Characteristics of the driven mechanics can be set within the encoTRive. In doing so, linear axes as well as rotary axes are supported. From this point on, records can be programmed in respective units such as degree, revolutions, mm, _m or neutral, as increments.
